official GMAT score, and a statement of purpose
identifying your area of interest, experiences,

calculated by taking the GMAT score plus 200 x
GPA); GMAT suggested minimum of 600 and GPA of at
least 3.25/4.00 desired; for international

Program Description
The Ph.D. program in Management and Operations is
designed to prepare its graduates for careers in
academics, industry, or government. The
program of study enables the development of
competencies in theory, practice, and research
methodology essential to the advancement of
knowledge in management and operations.
Within management and operations, Ph.D. students
choose one of two areas of concentration
(tracks): (1) operations management
and decision sciences or (2)
organization
management. The program is
designed to accommodate individual backgrounds,
experiences, and objectives. Students
receive rigorous fundamental training in
statistics, research methods, mathematics, and/or
operations research, followed by theoretical
study within their respective fields of
interest. All students are expected to
produce publishable research for peer-reviewed
journals prior to graduation. Students will
be able to work closely with a faculty advisor to
identify the specific research and major and
minor courses in their area of study. Classes are
designed to lead Ph.D. candidates to their
preliminary written and oral examinations in
their third year, followed by completion of a
dissertation in their fourth year.
