Program Description
Geology is the study of the earth, its
materials, and the ongoing processes that shape
its surface and interior. Our Geology
graduate program within the School of Earth and
Environmental Sciences offers M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees with specialization in
disciplines in Earth surface processes
(sedimentation, hydrology), the solid Earth
(tectonics, volcanology), geochemistry and
geophysics.
Within the School, strong synergies exist with
degree programs in Enviromental Science in the
area of Earth surface processes. Our
internationally-known analytical laboratory
facilities are extensive and modern, and are
available to graduate students for their
research. The School cooperates with the
Department of Geological Sciences at the nearby
University of Idaho in providing graduate
instruction and research collaboration.
