The Graduate School at Washington State University is pleased to provide graduate funding directed specifically to students who were McNair Scholars as undergraduates.
Ten McNair Graduate Scholar Awards have been established to assist in the recruitment of students who have completed McNair program requirements. These are half-time graduate assistantships provided to departments by the Graduate School for first-year funding of specific individuals.

McNair Scholar and graduate student, Leola Dublin, chose to enroll at WSU after her visit to Pullman through the Graduate School's McNair Scholars program. She says, "My visit introduced me to a school that has gotten it right. WSU's commitment to diversity is more than rhetoric." |
Prospective McNair Graduate Scholars do not apply for these positions. Consideration is given only to those nominated by the department or graduate program to which the former McNair Scholars applied. To aid this process McNair Scholars should inform the department or program that they may be eligible for this award.
The nomination and request must include a guarantee that the department will continue funding the student through completion of the degree program. The "guarantee" assumes the student is making progress toward completion.
The department in which the student is enrolled will determine duties associated with these positions. However, McNair Graduate Scholars will be invited to all McNair events and may be asked to meet periodically with currently enrolled WSU McNair students to share past and current experiences.
Request for information on these awards should be directed to S. Burkett in the Graduate School (sburkett@wsu.edu).
