All research involving human subjects must be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), a Presidential committee within the Office of Research Compliance. All principal investigators, including graduate students conducting dissertation research, must have human subject training prior to beginning their research with human subjects. All graduate students doing research with human subjects as part of their coursework requirements also require IRB approval.
